Question by King of the Masters: What kind of lens should I buy for my Canon Rebel XTi???
I currently own a Canon Rebel K2 film camera, but I want to upgrade to digital really soon. I’ve done some research, and the Canon Rebel XTi seems like my best bet – low price and fairly decent. I’ve read around and it seems like the standard autofocus lens it comes with isn’t very good and doesn’t do the camera justice. So I’m thinking of just buying the XTi body and then getting the lens separately.
I’ve taken a few film photography classes and plan to maybe pursue photography as a career. But I really hate working with film – I’m a huge photoshop junkie and love photo editing and graphic design. I wouldn’t call myself a beginner, but I don’t want to invest in professional grade equipment just yet – money is a pretty big issue.
So that being said, I just want a pretty standard lens – I don’t think I need a $ 1000 lens. I’m interested in shooting night shots and wide landscapes. Will my K2 standard lens work with the XTi body?? – just a thought.
Thanks :]

you know if your just getting into it and dont want to go spend alot on lenses i would just get the ones you can find in the package deals that canon so frequently offers but there are two packages the one comes with 2 basic lenses 18-75 and 75-300 but then theres a upgrade package and there almost the same lenses but they come with image stabalizer. the only thing is that if you do spend alot on pro series lenses for canon theyll fit all canon slrs well almost all theres a couple lenses that wont but most will so theyll also work on your k2 but if you have lenses for the k2 they may work on the xti
