Question by aaron_selverston: What percentage of newspaper revenues go right back into the production and distribution of the paper?
I need a reliable source for this information… I’m using it for an upcoming PBS/Frontline documentary.
Thanks!

For the sake of accuracy I would contact the business office of a few papers & ask to consult w the person handling marketing & Public relations for the paper. You might choose a sampling that includes a large circulation paper like the Washington Post or Chicago Tribune, a paper from a smaller large city, & perhaps a small town paper & a weekly local paper (depending on what unfo is best for your story)
I know the percentage reinvested is higher than most would expect, as profits usually remain slim to keep from raising the price of the paper.
The money earned from subscriptions & per paper sales is used exclusively to cover delivery costs for most papers
