Question by Ciaran: Will using 25fps ruin my film look?
Hello!
I am wanting to purchase a Canon XH A1 to make independent movies with. I really like what can be done with the camera and was really looking forward to filming in 24f; the framerate that is most associated with the ‘film look.’
However, I just discovered that since I live in England, I can only get the PAL version of the camera (a concept I don’t fully understand), and that version only supports a minimum of 25fps! I was wondering if the difference in frame rate will make my films look less ‘film like’ than one made in America with the 24f version of the camera. Because surely if this is the case, Europe is doomed to less professional looking films because of the clutch of PAL?
I know that there is more to filmmaking than the frame rate and all that jazz, but I am asking this purely on that technical basis.
Many thanks.

believe it or not, 24fps is so high that the difference should be at least 5 fps for the eye to notice. i play some games and when my fps jumps from 30 to 20 i don’t notice at all! same deal with movies.
worst case scenario you could manually decrease fps down to 24!
