Question by katie bell.: worst day everr [please read! i know it’s long, but i need advice…].?
ok, so this is why today is my worst day ever. i know this sounds really stupid, but i need to vent/need advice.
so normally i have all these crazy dreams, that have absolutely NO way of happening. but this time, i had a dream that i thought i could actually achieve. you see, i love movies. and not the normal way people love them, it’s like whenever i watch them i can see the way the directors and actors and other cast members are thinking, and i’ll randomly be like “wow, i really like the set design” or “it must have taken foreverrr to direct this film” and stuff like that. so i had this dream of being a film director, or maybe working on the technical aspects like lighting [i think that it’s really cool how the lighting can sort of make or break a movie, you know? like if harry potter was always super bright during battle scenes, it would have been horrible]. so, i decided to sign up for “technical theatre and production” at my school. and i thought it was really great that i was actually trying to go after my dreams, instead of sitting at my computer thinking about them. well guess what? APPARENTLY I CAN’T TAKE THE CLASS. i went to talk to the instructor today, and he said that only “experienced people can take it, masters of the subject” [or something along those lines]. and i mean, i just think that’s really unfair, because when i talked to my counselor about taking the class she said that they took beginners, and in the class booklet we get it says that they even welcome students who are just somewhat interested in theatre. i’m not even one of those “somewhat interested” people, theatre is one of my passions. and i mean, i’m at school to LEARN. how can they offer a course for only “experienced people” or “masters” without offering the beginner course? where else would we be getting this eduction/skill?
on another note, another bad thing is that all the RPs seem to have left…
so, please leave an answer if you either have advice for me about the theatre dilemma, are an RP telling me that you’re still around, an RP telling me about a new HP RP site i’m not on yet [no one seems to be using the one i still use…], or you just want to make a comment about my problem [please be nice though… i know i might be sounding really melodramatic about this but i really am sad about this and i don’t need anyone pushing me down further].
LASTLY: please, no one report this question. i really need advice, but i wasn’t sure where to place this question. so i decided to put it in linz, because it’s the ex-RP place. i’m sorry if this bothers people, but i really, really just want some advice, so don’t delete this question.
@ hermione: aww thanks. gryffindor pride <3.
@ miss sobriety: yeah i was wondering about that whole pre-requisite issue, but in our school hand book it says that there are none...

Sorry, I don’t know what an RP is… But I’m one of those HP people on Y!A :].
I do agree with you that you’re in school to learn.. not to, well, be experienced. They shouldn’t only offer a course for the experienced because school is for trying new things after all! I suggest you try to talk to your counselor or even the principal to talk about how there should at least be a beginner class!
I’m sorry they turned you down to the class:[. ESPECIALLY, since it’s your dream and passion!
I hope you feel better, Katie! And I can’t wait to see your next quidditch match:].
